Aces and Eights by K Henderson

Aces and Eights, 12 x 9, oil on board
Aces and Eights is known as the Dead Man's Hand in a two-pair poker hand. The hand gets its name from the legend of it being the five-card-draw hand held by Wild Bill Hickok at the time of his murder (August 2, 1876). It is accepted that the hand included the aces and eights of both the black suits. There is still debate about what the 5th card was.

Wild West by K Henderson

Wild West!, 36 x 36, oil on linen

As I reported recently, I'm painting a series of oils based on the American Indians that preformed in Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show. I'm using photos from the late 1800's as my reference and inspiration.

But what would this series be without a painting of Buffalo Bill Cody?
