Cowboy's Sweetheart

Cowboy's Sweetheart, 20 x 30, oil on linen

I worked on the faces again. I think this is it. I couldn't decide if I should leave it as a sepia tone painting or if I should layer on some color.

What do you think?

  1. Hi K,

With or without extra colours it would be good, but sepia fits the soulful look on theit faces and would make it unique. A case of less being more.

  2. Oh that's a tricky one. It looks great as it is, but colour might be even better. Maybe you could try experimenting in photoshop first before working on the real thing?

  3. I like the sepia. But, I would like anything you do. Your work is just phenomenal!

  4. This is amazing to me, K! I would imagin dealing with a sepia style is challenging? As far as color goes, you know how in some of the old tin types where you sometimes see a blushed cheek or a colored bow at the neck? Maybe something like that? (personally, I'd leave it as is ...)

  5. That's exactly what I was thinking. Maybe add some color so it would look like a tinted photo.

  6. That's all. For some reason I wasn't notified that I had comments so I'm late in responding to your kind words.
Gareth, I use photoshop a lot for giving me a new view of my work but I haven't tried adding color with it. I'll give that a try and see what I think. Thanks for the tip.
