Heart of the West Invitational Art Show

I will be participating in the Heart of the West Invitational Art Show in Lander, WY again this year. I've had paintings in this show several times and was awarded Best of Show a few years ago for my painting Summer Lightning.

My only objection to this show is that it was only one day long. This year the show will hang for 8 days, Sept 10 -18. I'll have more information as the show draws nearer.

In the Company of Cowgirls Art show

I'm pleased to announce that I was invited to show at In the Company of Cowgirls art show in Pendleton, Oregon, May 19-22, 2011

Artist's reception will be held Thursday May 19 from 7pm-9pm, at Pendleton's renowned Hamley's Slickfork Saloon. Awards will be presented.
Special Guest Ms.Juni Fisher, Songwriter, Singer, and Entertainer, will be in Concert.
The show celebrates the role women have played in the agriculture industry.

They Came No More - American Indian

I'm gearing up for summer shows and hope to have several paintings to post in the next month.

This is a painting of a Plains Indian with a beaded and quilled shirt. He carries a shield with a golden eagle bundle. This bundle was a token of power. It could be removed from the shield to be carried, used in rituals or placed in a dwelling.

The title refers to the rock Art figure over the shoulder of the American Indian. The horned shaman is common in rock art in many parts of the world.

Oklahoma Friendly - Juror's Select Award

I won the Juror's Select Award at the Oklahoma Friendly show
Oklahoma Friendly 2011 presents 160 pieces of art by over 150 artists from Rhode Island to Alaska and from Wisconsin to Texas. The pieces were chosen from over 780 submissions.
The art in the show comes from a variety of media and styles. The works have been divided into five categories that reflect the Oklahoma Friendly theme: Friendly Faces (figures), Tornado Alley (abstracts), Big Sky (landscapes), Wild Frontier (architecture), and Landmarks (sculpture).

A Plains Indian, a horse and a painted story background. What more can I say except that I'm boxing it up to be shipped to Mountain Trails Gallery this week.

I used to paint a lot of horses but a rarely do anymore. This is one of the few available.
